Machine Learning is Expediting!

Everywhere we see these days, we find one or the other application based on Machine Learning. You might be wondering why is it in the limelight currently! It indeed should be. Machine Learning is not a new concept. It emerged in 1980’s and continued till 2010’s. Machine Learning is a fragment of Artificial Intelligence (1950’s to 1980’s). Whereas, another technology named as Deep Learning is a technique to implement Machine Learning concepts. Deep Learning emerged in 2010’s and is currently in use to make various applications based on Machine Learning.

A few recently built applications based on Machine Learning include GBoard, Facebook’s News Feed, Google Translate.

GBoard – A keyboard from Google helps you do glide typing on your iPhone. You can simply swipe your fingers on letters and the words would get automatically written. It also allows voice typing. GBoard consists of inbuilt google search. If you need to search something on google and then send to someone, you no more need to open the browser, search, copy it and then open your chat and paste it to send. You can simply click on the google search button available on the GBoard, search, copy, paste and send directly from your app.

You can also search emoji, GIFs, etc. For example, if you want to send an emoji of cake, you need to write “cake” in the search bar and there you go. All the emoji related to cake would appear.

Facebook’s News Feed – Facebook’s News Feed is another example of Machine Learning. It fetches billions of data points from the likes, posts, comments, recent activities of billions of users. That’s not it. Facebook uses thousands of other factors as well which determines what is going to be displayed in an individual’s news feed. Facebook’s Machine Learning process also identifies faces from images in order to allow users to tag people with ease.

Google Translate – Google’s ability to translate text from one language to another language is also a concept of Machine Learning. It grabs the huge amount of data available on the internet, scrutinizes it, tracks all its patterns and translates the text in the required language.

That’s not it. There are a lot many other applications of Machine Learning you can find in day to day life.
